Thirtienth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 9:9-13
As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN the Gospel reading today, we read that with the abundance of his mercy, Jesus Christ called Matthew and was at table in his house together with many sinners and tax collectors. He called Matthew to follow him. Matthew got up and followed him immediately.
Christ’s mercy is his light to shine upon those who were sitting in darkness of sins. So he says, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
Jesus Christ now also calls us all to follow him and enjoy the abundance of his mercy. He is attracted to each of us to whom his grace will be poured abundantly.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ, we put in front of him a contrite soul and broken heart. We are ready to abandon ourselves to his mercy, and there he is. Are we ready to change and to enjoy the abundance of his mercy?
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for calling and choosing us, out of love for us. Thank you for inviting us in all our weakness to follow you, so that we may more confidently base our future growth on your grace and mercy. Grant us the grace of a humble and contrite heart so that we can enjoy and proclaim the abundance of your mercy now and forever. Amen.
