Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 13: 47-53
Jesus said to his disciples: “The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. When it is full they haul it ashore and sit down to put what is good into buckets. What is bad they throw away. Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. “Do you understand all these things?” They answered, “Yes.” And he replied, “Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.” When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

LET’S reflect on the Gospel reading today based on this verse, “The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind.” Let’s focus on the word “net”.
In our daily life we find two words which contain of “net”. We have internet and networking. We know net is used for catching and collecting.
With his parable of the Kingdom of heaven is like a net, Jesus Christ is reminding us that the Kingdom of heaven is catching and collecting. It unites rather than divides us. So, all souls and all human history will be united in the vision of the Father. Both the good and the bad will be brought before him.
The (Perpetual Adoration of the) Eucharist is an anticipation of God’s Kingdom which unites and collects us. There his “net of love” brings us all together to feed and strengthen. Do we strive to bring others to the (Perpetual Adoration of the) Eucharist as well, so they can experience the peace and happiness of anticipating heaven here on earth?
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we know you are all powerful. We believe that your Kingdom will triumph. Help us to do all we can to bring others into your Kingdom of heaven so they can experience the joy that comes from knowing you and from living ready for the coming of your Kingdom forever and ever. Amen.
