First Week of Advent

Dear my friends,

Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 7:21, 24-27

Jesus said to his disciples: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN the Gospel today we encounter Jesus Christ who reminds us that faith in him can’t just remain on our lips. Our faith must penetrate our hearts and minds as well. It, then, implies doing the will of God the Father in thoughts, words and deeds. Faith in Jesus Christ must be translated into acts of charity and generosity.

We have to build our faith on rock. It demands constancy in prayer, charity and generosity. It also requires humility and purity of intention in doing God’s will.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while adoring Jesus Christ, we learn to build our faith on the rock. Based on our prayer before him in the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we translate our faith into acts of charity and generosity.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, help us to build our faith on the rock by translating it into acts of charity and generosity. May we be your faithfully followers now and forever. Amen.
