Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 8: 16-18
Jesus said to the crowd: “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lamp stand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN the Gospel today Jesus Christ calls us to be a torchbearer. There are at least two functions of a torchbearer in the dark.
First, a torchbearer sheds light so that all who are with him can walk confidently, without stumbling along a dark path. Second, time is not wasted stepping insecurely and hesitantly so that we can walk safely.
Jesus Christ also says, “To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.” It obviously refers to the torchbearer who has successfully led his band of friends. He will be entrusted with more responsibility.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, while adoring Jesus Christ, we learn to realize our duty as a torchbearer for the journey to that place of eternal life. Do we staunchly live the fire of the faith in witnessing to his love? Are we afraid to allow our light of faith to shine?
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, help us to be a wise torchbearer in this secularized world by our faith in you. Enlighten our mind and heart to follow your path that leads to the endless day joyfully. Give us a robust faith now and forever. Amen.
