Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 7:15-20

Jesus said to his disciples, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

LET’S focus our reflection on these Jesus’ words that every good tree bears good fruits. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit.

Jesus Christ gives us a simple but good criterion for measuring the work of us and of other people. Let’s see the good fruits of our life. We are to look at what we and other people produce.

Everything good we produce indicates who we are. So now, the question is what good fruits are we producing for God and others? Have we been open to new life? Do we dedicate a fair amount of time to serving others? Do we help worthwhile charities?

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while adoring Jesus Christ we learn to be a good tree bears good fruits in our life. There we realize that we can only produce everything good in our life, when we are united to him in prayer.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, before we produce anything good in our life, we need to be united to you in prayer. We believe in your presence in the Eucharist. It gives us the assurances that you really are with us until the end of time. Help us to be aware of our weakness and inclination to sin, so we trust all the more in your forgiveness and mercy now and forever. Amen.
