Tenth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 5:13-16
Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN the Gospel today Jesus Christ tells us the two of pur character, as “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world”. By saying it, Jesus calls us to give the new taste of the Gospel to the earth and enlighten the whole world with Jesus’ teaching.
We know, salt enhances the food we eat by accenting the natural flavor already present in the food. So Jesus Christ calls us to enhance the world around us with the saltiness of our Christian lives.
We also understand, without light we are blind in the darkness. So Jesus wants us to be his light in contemporary society based on our trust in him. He himself is the light of the world.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we worship Jesus Christ who has been the best salt and light in the world with his love and mercy by triumphing over evil, suffering and death. His light has illumined our path towards the merciful God.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, through our baptism you give us the salt of your divine life. May this grace of baptism will develop into a life of virtue by which we are called to enlight our environment. Grant us also the courage and the zeal to live what we believe and to testify to your faithful love in our thoughts, words and actions now and forever. Amen.
