Twenty-nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to Luke 12:35-38

Yesus says, “Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the marriage feast, so that they may open to him at once when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes; truly, I say to you, he will gird himself and have them sit at table, and he will come and serve them. If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants!”

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

JESUS Christ wants us to be prepared for his coming. It may be today or tomorrow, at the hour of our departure from this life. It means our death.

The Gospel today tells us about it. Jesus warns us to be watchful and ready to serve him when he comes. Jesus tells us a parable from everyday life that illustrates the necessity of being prepared to open the door at once when he knocks and calls for his servants to let him in.

Jesus calls to us each and every day. He says, “Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together” (Revelations 3:20).

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we learn to be ready to receive Jesus Christ who knocks on our door everyday. Let’s be ready to receive him today so that we may be nourished with his life-giving word that has power to transform us into his likeness and way of love, mercy, and truth, and goodness.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you loves us first and you gives your life for us. May we be watchful and ready to serve you in our daily lives now and forever. Amen.
