Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time
Feast of Saint Simon and Saint Jude, Apostles

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 6:12-16

Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

TODAY is Feast of St. Simon and St. Jude, Apostles. St. Jude is known as the patron of impossible cases. It means that nothing is impossible with God. St. Simon was called a Zealot. At the time of Jesus, Zealots were a group of people known for politically agitating the Roman occupiers. Jesus called them to be his Apotles.

In the Gospel, St. Jude and Simon were never the first ones we know. However, they were faithful and loyal to Jesus Christ. They persevered in the mission that he entrusted to them.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we adore Jesus Christ who calls us to persevere in our faith. We learn to be faithful and loyal as St. Jude and St. Simon.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, help us to believe in the power of your grace to transform us and make us holy! Help us be humble and supportive now and forever. Amen.
