The Octave of Easter
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 28:8-15
So they (Mary Magdalene and the other Mary) departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Hail!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.” While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place. And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sum of money to the soldiers and said, “Tell people, `His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” So they took the money and did as they were directed; and this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

BASED on the today’s Gospel, let’s contemplate the holy women at the tomb of Jesus. We can feel their distress upon entering an open and empty tomb and experience their fears for where the body might be. And behold, sudenly Jesus met them and said, “Hail!” Then they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
Here we can share in their joy because their faith, and ours, awakens to the reality of Our Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Yes indeed, it is true! Jesus Christ has truly risen!
The Risen Christ then sends them to become missionaries. This is the instruction Jesus Christ gives these privileged women, “Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
And indeed, in the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we join with them to approach Jesus Christ and bow down, then adore and embrace the loving feet of Our Lord. From our adoration, Our Lord also calls us to be witnesses to the world.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, the holy women were faithful to you in spreading the Good News of the Resurrection to the apostles and the world. You surely want to be our strength, our light and our love. May from our adoration, we also want to be witnesses of your resurrection and mercy to the world now and forever. Amen.
