The Third Week of Lent
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 5:17-19
Jesus Christ says, “Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

DEAREST friends,
Let’s start our reflection today in praying, “Lord Jesus Christ, teach us what it means to fulfill the law as you says it in the Gospel today.”
Jesus Christ says, “Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them.” He comes to fulfill the law of God perfectly.
First of all, Jesus Christ fulfills the law of love, loving God above all things. Secondly, he completes the law of the Old Testament with the new law of love, to love one another as he has loved us. Even, we have to love those hate us and pray for those hurt us.
Jesus Christ also says, “For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished.” It means that love and its demands reach to the farthest ends of the universe, to the smallest created being, and to the end of world. The law of love reaches to the ends of the earth. God’s love is never ending.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, while adoring Jesus Christ, we learn to seek perfection in loving God and others. We believe that having love as the motivation of all of our actions not only helps us make it to heaven, but also will win us a greater share in God’s happiness and glory.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you, for this time of adoration. Do not let each of us be content simply to do the minimum that our faith asks of us. Help us to live the fullness of the law of charity. May this Lent be a time of growth for us in fulfilling the law of love to God and our neighbors now and forever. Amen.
