Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 15: 21-28
At that time Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.” But he did not say a word in answer to her. His disciples came and asked him, “Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.” He said in reply, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But the woman came and did him homage, saying, “Lord, help me.” He said in reply, “It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters.” Then Jesus said to her in reply, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

LET’S imagine the agony of the mother in this Gospel reading today and the near-physical pain she felt in the depths of her heart. She came to Jesus and beg him, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.” Again she cried, “Lord, help me,” for Jesus did not answer her. Even he said in reply, “It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs.”
Oh my God! What happenned with Jesus? Why did he say as such? But amazing that the Canaanite woman had a wonderful faith, alas, she answered him, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters.”
Exactly, her wonderful faith and humility moved Jesus Christ’s heart. So he encouraged her saying, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we adore Jesus Christ like the Canaanite woman. How happy we are when we are grateful and let him know our faith. Do we have great faith in Jesus Christ?
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we believe you want us to have great faith in you. Give us the gratitude, faith and trust to accept our cross and rejoice in your creative love for us now and forever. Amen
