Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 12: 14-21

The Pharisees went out and took counsel against Jesus to put him to death. When Jesus realized this, he withdrew from that place. Many people followed him, and he cured them all, but he warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I shall place my spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles. He will not contend or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory. And in his name the Gentiles will hope.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Gospel reading today we recognize a contrast between the Pharisees, who seek to kill, and Jesus, who continues to give life to all who come to him. Jesus is not provoked an unnecessary clash by the Pharisees. Why? Because, he is so meek and humble.

He is the Lord who binds up wounds so that we may be healed. Every person felt he could approach him.

Jesus challenges us to a deeper self-reflection. It is also ultimately to a conversion of heart and of life. Many people followed him, and he cured them all.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we adore Jesus Christ and reflect on our attirude. We ask ourselves when at times we find ourselves in a disagreement, what do we do? Are our emotions roused?

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you are never provoked by the Pharisees. Lord, a bruised reed he will not break, a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory. Deepen within us the desire to remain united to you in prayer so as to imitate you in love. Make our heart attentive to the needs of others now and forever. Amen.
