The Second Week in Ordinary Time
The Third Day of The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Mark 3:1-6
Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there who had a withered hand. And they watched him, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. And he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Come here.” And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. The Pharisees went out, and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE core of Gospel today is similar with yesterday. The religious leaders of Israel want to catch Jesus in the act of breaking the Sabbath ritual so they may accuse him of breaking God’s law. They – especially the Scribes and the Pharisees – are filled with fury and contempt for Jesus.
They put their own thoughts of right and wrong above God. Here then, Jesus Christ shows their fallacy by pointing to God’s intention for the Sabbath. It is to do good and to save life rather than to do evil or to destroy life.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we worship Jesus Christ who wants from us nothing less than an act of faith. His heart longs to save us.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you bring salvation for everyone you encounter, including your enemies. Thank you for becoming a man to save us in our dire need for you. May we desire and seek what is good for everyone regardless of their attitude towards us. Transform our heart with your love that we may freely serve others for their good now and forever. Amen.
