Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 19:41-44

And when he drew near and saw the city he wept over it, saying, “Would that even today you knew the things that make for peace! But now they are hid from your eyes. For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies will cast up a bank about you and surround you, and hem you in on every side, and dash you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

FROM the Gospel today we can reflect that Jesus Christ wants us to be reconciled with God. He wants to unite us with one another in a bond of peace and mutual love. He enables us to live in peace and harmony with our families, neighbors, communities, and the wider community of peoples and nations.

But in Jerusalem Jesus shed tears of sorrow, grief, and mourning for his people. He realized that he would soon pour out his blood for the people of Jerusalem and for the whole world as well. Jesus wept over city of Jerusalem for throughout its history, many of the rulers and inhabitants had rejected the prophets who spoke in the name of the God because of their pride and unbelief. And they also refused to listen to Jesus who came as their Messiah, whom God has anointed to be their Savior and Prince of Peace.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we whorsip Jesus Christ who  is our hope for he is the only one who can truly reconcile us with God and with one another. Through his death and resurrection he breaks down the walls of hostility and division by reconciling us with God. He visits and stays with us in the Eucharist and Adoration. Let’s recognize his gracious visitation today.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you visit us to establish peace and justice. You purify and lead us from our sinful ways to your way of justice, peace, love, and holiness. May we accept the grace to turn away from sin and to walk in your way of peace and holiness now and forever. Amen.
