The Fifth Week of Lent
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 1:16, 18-21, 24
Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ. Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

TODAY is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the Husband of St. Mary, the foster father of Jesus. He is the wise man with a clean conscience. He is a good example for us to emulate, for he did not become discouraged easily when undergoing trials.
St. Joseph, was a just man. God, seeing Joseph’s honesty, communicated to him the truth about Mary’s integrity. A message in a dream was enough to convince his willing heart.
From the experience of St. Joseph we can learn that not all is easy for a just man. God chose a man of great integrity and detail to shoulder the daunting responsibility of raising his Son.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ we ask him a clean conscience and wise heart like that of his foster father, St. Joseph. So we can keep his words in our integrity.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, your foster father Saint Joseph provides us with an example of courage in bearing serenely the weight of life’s crosses and difficulties. Grant us clean consciences like that of your foster father now and forever. Amen.
