The Ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Mark 12:28-34

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, “Which is the first of all the commandments?” Jesus replied, “The first is this: Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher. You are right in saying, He is One and there is no other than he. And to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding, he said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

FROM the Gospel today we know that we are called to love God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength. We are also called to love our neighbor as ourselves.

The love of God comes first and the love of neighbor is firmly grounded in the love of God. The more we love God, the more we love our neighbor and reject what is hateful and contrary to his will.
As we know it well, June is traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On June 1, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI urged Catholics to renew our devotion of the Heart of Jesus.

The Sacred Heart is a symbol of Christian faith expresses the good news of love in a simple and authentic way, summarizing the commandment of loving God and our neighbors. It represents Christ’s love both for God and for all mankind.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ we give ourselves and consecrate to his Sacred Heart. We ask him to put our heart in his Sacred Heart that we may love God and our neighbor.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we offer our heart to your Sacred Heart. We consecrate our life, actions, pains, and sufferings. May we be unwilling to make use of any part of our being save to honor, love and glorify your Sacred Heart, forever and ever. Amen.
