Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 21:12-19
Jesus said to his disciples: “Before all this happens, however, they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name. It will lead to your giving testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

What Jesus Christ says in the Gospel today first of all is for challenging us to love him and to make him the true center of our lives, thoughts, desires and actions. He also promises to help us face the difficulties of practicing our faith day-to-day.
From the Gospel today we also understand that opposition from the world is surely the price we pay for following Jesus Christ. So we realize that to be a Christian is to be ready to be persecuted in his name.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, while adoring Jesus Christ we learn to love him. There we stay close to Jesus Christ in prayer and deed, so that he would take over our lives little by little. We also learn to die to ourselves.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you know it’s not easy to be seen as your followers. Help us be faithful to you regardless of the cost. Help us to love you and to make you the true center of our lives, thoughts, desires and actions although we will face the difficulties in practicing our faith now and forever. Amen.
