Tenth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 5:17-19

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

LET’S focus on Jesus’ word in the Gospel today that he has come not to abolish but to fulfill the law and prophets. It is about the fulfillment of the history of salvation.

Since the beginning, through the law and the prophets God prepared his people for salvation. In Jesus Christ that salvation is fulfilled.

Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, has fulfilled the law and the prophets. He came especially to fulfill the deep longing in the human heart for happiness, which is ultimately found in eternal life with God.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we worship Jesus Christ who has fulfilled the plan of the history of salvation. In and through him, the law has moved from the tablets of stone to the hearts of men. It’s demonstrated by the Beatitudes as we heard and reflected yesterday.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you has fulfilled the law of love by introducing that God is not a heartless dictator but a Father who loves us and wills our very best. Sin is always tapping on my door but you have promised us that your grace will always be available. Help us to avail ourselves of the means of grace you give us to live in union with your eternal law now and forever. Amen.
