Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 19:1-10
He entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector, and rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it they all murmured, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Gospel today proclaims to us about Jesus who says to Zacchaeus, “I must stay at your home today”. What would we do if the same word was intended to each of us?
First of all, we would surely be excited and secondly, we have to receive him joyfully. We can learn it from Zacchaeus.
Zacchaeus is very excited to receive Jesus for he needs God’s merciful love and forgiveness. In his encounter with Jesus he finds more than he imagines possible. It’s why he shows the depth of his repentance by deciding to give half of his goods to the poor and to use the other half for making restitution for fraud.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, while worshipping Jesus Christ, we ask faith which welcomes him in our heart and life. There we learn to climb the sycamore tree like Zacchaeus that we may see Jesus. And Jesus will say to each of us, “I must stay at your home today”.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you are always ready to make your home with each one of us. We make room for you in our hearts, please, stay in our lives. Please, come and stay with us and fill our lives with your peace. Help us to show kindness, mercy, and goodness to all, even to those who cause us harm now and forever. Amen.
