IT is indeed a very old house.
However, this very traditional Dayak Rumah Betang or the “Long House” with its very rigid and stiff belian wood-made stakes are still able very strong enough to support the huge load of the house’s structure.
We had at least two-time experiences to use this old house in Payakumang, Ketapang City of West Kalimantan Province to perform a national conference. With at least some 60 participants from all region across Indonesia.
Rumah Betang or the Long House in Payakumang of Ketapang of West Kalimantan has been becoming the city’s most popular cultural site which is located in Ketapang Diocese’s Catholic Center Compound.
Deep inside this large compound is also located the diocese’s minor seminary of St. Laurentius and pastoral service center.
