Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Feast of Saint Lawrence, deacon and martyr
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. John 12:24-26
Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

JESUS Christ says, “The Father will honor whoever serves me.” What kind of serving? What kind of honor?
We are called to serve like Jesus Christ. His sacrificial love has the power to multiply love in our lives. His act of selfless love gives birth to other acts of the same kind.
Today is feast of St Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr. He was a deacon of the early Church in the middle of the third century. He died a martyr by being roasted slowly on a grill. His faith and courageous love are fruits of Christ’s sacrificial love.
In the Perpertual Adoration of the Eucharist, while adoring Jesus Christ who won the same grace for us to bear our crosses and live a life of selfless love and generosity; we learn to serve him. Then the Father honors us by granting us the daily gift of his fortitude to persevere in it. Do we serve him faithfully?
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you give us today the example of St Lawrence. Help us to forget ourselves and put your interests before ours. We offer small sacrifices each day for the Church and the salvation of souls now and forever. Amen.
