Feast of The Sacred Family
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 2:41-52
Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom; and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the company they went a day’s journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances; and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.” And he said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” And they did not understand the saying which he spoke to them. And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ

TODAY Is feast of the Sacred Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. This family grew together in mutual love, harmony, and care for one another among them Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Jesus is the Son of God who was born into a family devoted to the word of God. He was born into a human family as a Jew who was raised according to the teaching and wisdom of God’s word in the Old Testament Scriptures and the religious customs of his people. It is why this family was blessed and called the sacred family.
In the Gospel today we read a glimpse of Jesus’ growth as a boy into young manhood. St. Luke tells us that the boy Jesus was obedient to Mary, his mother and Joseph, his foster father. Of course, as devout and God-fearing Jews, Mary and Joseph raised him according to the Scriptures and Jewish customs.
The Gospel today records Jesus’ journey to the Father’s house in Jerusalem together with his parents. St. Luke tells us that the boy Jesus traveled with his parents from Nazareth to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover. This journey normally took three days.
And in the temple there is a remarkable incident which happened when the boy Jesus answered to his mother’s anxious inquiry reveals his confident determination to pursue his heavenly Father’s will. He said to Mary, “Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” (Luke 2:49)
Here we meet the boy Jesus identified himself as Son of the eternal Father in heaven. But, nonetheless, he submitted himself with love and obedience to Mary and Joseph. With his parents, Jesus grew as a man in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and with the people of Nazareth, his home town.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, while worshipping Jesus Christ we ask him to grant us love and obedience to God, our Father. God then reveals his blessing and joy to all of us who listen to his word and who follow his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we want to follow and obey you for you show us the way to the our Father’s house and family in heaven. We pray too that all families find peace, harmony, and unity in you, now and forever. Amen.
