Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 9:43-45
While they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, “Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men.” But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.
***
LORD Jesus Christ, strengthen our weak faith and guide us along your paths to eternal happiness in heaven.
Jesus Christ says, that he is to be handed over to men. What does it mean? It means that we have to understand about his passion and death but he raised again for the sake of our salvatation. We can only understand it through a supernatural faith.
Surely, this supernatural faith is a gift we must seek from God in all humility, and it will shed light on the whole of our lives. It will bring a knowledge greater than just a purely human one. Trusting in Jesus, let us ask him for this faith.
Let’s not be like the disciples in today’s Gospel passage who were afraid to question Jesus about the gift of supernatural faith. Jesus Christ always has an answer to our questions even though our mind may not fully grasp its breadth. He does not want us to accept his teaching in a passive way.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we adore Jesus Christ who wants us to accept freely, not because we understand fully, but rather because we trust and love the merciful God who reveals himself to us through Jesus Christ, his Son.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, it is so easy for us to look at life from a purely human standpoint. Grant us the eyes of faith to see all things from your viewpoint. May our faith enlighten our path all the days of our life. We beg you, in all humility, for the gift of supernatural faith in you, now and forever. Amen.
