After Epiphany of the Lord
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 4:14-22
And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and a report concerning him went out through all the surrounding country. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and he went to the synagogue, as his custom was, on the Sabbath day. And he stood up to read; and there was given to him the book of the prophet Isaiah. He opened the book and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” And all spoke well of him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth; and they said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Gospel today tells us about Jesus Christ who fulfills the prophecy of the prophet Isaiah, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” From his holy mouth Jesus Christ emphasizes, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” And all spoke well of him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth.
From the Gospel today we see that in Jesus Christ we experience the healing power of God’s love and mercy in action. God’s promise brings freedom and healing to those who put their trust in him. Surely, his gracious words bring hope, joy, and favor to all of us who are ready to receive him.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ, we look to him with confidence and hope in the fulfillment of all God’s promises. He has come to set us free, not only from our infirmities, but from the tyranny of slavery to sin and the fear of losing our lives.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, your loving power save us from hopelessness and emptiness of life. You are the “Best News” for us who receive you. You are the fulfillment of all our hopes and dreams. May we proclaim your peace and righteousness now and forever. Amen.
