Christmas Octave

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 2:36-40

And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phan’u-el, of the tribe of Asher; she was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years from her virginity, and as a widow till she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. And coming up at that very hour she gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem. And when they had performed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN The Gospel today we encounter with Anna who did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. What did she hope for? She hoped for the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as her happiness.

It was very excellent that her hope grew with prayer and perseverance. She was a woman of great hope and expectation that God would fulfill all his promises. She is a model of godliness to all of us.

In fact, in the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we learn to worship Jesus Christ presents in the Most Sacred Sacrament like Anna who never ceased to worship God in faith and to pray with hope. We believe in God by placing our trust in the promises of Jesus Christ and relying not on our own strength, but on the grace and help of the Holy Spirit.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, may we never cease to hope in you and to trust in your promises. Increase our love for prayer, that we may never cease to give you praise and worship now and forever. Amen.
