Thirtienth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 8:18-22

Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.” Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

This is the Gospel of the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Gospel reading today is still connecting with yesterday’s especially about special calling to follow his footsteps. Jesus Christ says, “Follow me!” Our discipleship is born from his invitation:

The scribe in today’s Gospel reading come up and says to Jesus, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” Unfortunately, he still seeks his own will. He does not yet have the total freedom of heart that life with Christ demands. So Jesus challenges him saying, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.”

With this word Jesus wants to show us his own self-emptying poverty goes beyond the lot of the poorest of men. His living example empowers us to leave our world for something better, nobler and more worthy of the life we have been given.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, while worshipping Jesus Christ we want to follow his footsteps and to find a better way, a holier way of our life. Do we detach from all personal wants and desires? Is it God’s will really moving our heart to make the choices we make? Are we ready to follow Jesus Christ wherever he may lead us?

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for calling us as your disciple. We have heard your voice and w now answer you. Help us to live better our vocation in life now and forever. Amen.
