Twenty-Third Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 6:43-49
Jesus said to his disciples: “A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not pick figs from thorn bushes, nor do they gather grapes from brambles. A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good, but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil; for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks. Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I command? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them. That one is like a person building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built. But the one who listens and does not act is like a person who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, it collapsed at once and was completely destroyed.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

FROM the Gospel today we can learn to know what lies deep down in our souls. Jesus gives us a very simple criterion that we will know it from the kind of fruit we produce.
Truly, if our lives produce charity, faith, patience and honesty, we know that our soul is healthy and strong. On the contrary, if our lives produce anger, envy, selfishness and laziness, then we know that there is a weak and sickly soul inside.
Producing something good is not about the appearances with our mask by putting on a nice face. It is only hiding something rotten inside. If so, sooner or later the mask will fall.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while adoring Jesus Christ we learn to be a good tree that we produce good fruit. There we go deep down to the root of our defects by healing our soul in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, penance, and adoration. Do we produce good fruit in our daily lives?
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we must act on your words now, in this moment, while there still is time. Help us to work today to strengthen the foundation of our spiritual life. Help us to be good tree produce good fruits and to grow in virtue now and forever. Amen.
