Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 9:32-38
A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus, and when the demon was driven out the mute person spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” But the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the prince of demons.” Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.”
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

JESUS Christ is our happiness. His heart is moved with pity for us. He fully satisfies our hunger for God in spite of our history of misery and pain. This is the core of the Gospel reading today.
“Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. His heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.”
Unfortunately, the Pharisees freely choose to live with demons rather than to live with Christ. So while the crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel” the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we worship Jesus Christ, our happiness. In our life, we will be confronted with the same choice. Would we be in control and live with our demons, or will we surrender to Christ totally in our lives? Could we open our heart to see what Christ sees with Christ’s heart? Would we follow everyday what he asks of us?
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we know how much you love all people and manifest that love by coming to us every day at the Eucharist. There we meet you, The One who has so loved us and your heart is moved with pity for us. We offer one hour of adoration today for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. Praise to you Lord forever and ever. Amen.
