Twenty-second Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to Luke 4:31-37
And he went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the Sabbath; and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority. And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice, “Ah! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm. And they were all amazed and said to one another, “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” And reports of him went out into every place in the surrounding region.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Catholic Church in Indonesia points the month of September as the month of the Scripture. We are called to be more attentive to the Word of God in Scripture.
When we listen to the word of God in Scripture how do we respond to it? Do we hear it with indifference, selective submission, or with the full assent of faith and obedience?
The Gospel today tells us that in Jesus Christ, God’s Word has power to set us free. His word is truth and life and it has power to set us free from every sin and oppression and bring us healing of body, mind, and spirit.
Pope Francis recently declared September 1 as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. It offers to each of us to renew our personal participation in this vocation as custodians of creation, raising to God our thanks for the marvellous works that He has entrusted to our care, invoking his help for the protection of creation and his mercy for the sins committed against the world in which we live.
Following in the footsteps of Ortodox Church, Catholics are encouraged to organize prayer and practical initiatives to combat the environmental crisis facing our planet. Thanks to God that Pope Francis also encourages us to organize an hour of Eucharistic Adoration today. Let’s offer it as our prayer in our Perpetual Adoration of the Euchsrist.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus, you have the words of everlasting life. May we never doubt your saving love and mercy, and the power of your word to bring healing, restoration, and freedom from every sin and oppression. Bless all the creation and lift them up to your glory now and forever. Amen.
