Third Week of Easter

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. John 6: 30-35

The crowd said to Jesus, “What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'” So Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN today’s Gospel Jesus says to the crowds, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” Jesus Christ shows us that he is the true bread from heaven that the Father gives us.

We come to Jesus Christ, the bread of life, in the Eucharist. In the Eucharist, he sustains and strengthens us, so we will be able to reach our eternal life.

We hunger in our soul for a bread of life that we cannot produce on our own and that no one can make for us. Our only recourse to receive this bread of life is humbly to ask the only one capable of giving it; and he is Jesus Christ himself in the Eucharist.

In the Holy Mass we come before the Lord Jesus Christ with open hands and an open heart. “Lord, give us this bread of life always.” In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we worship him as the bread of life both from eternity and for eternity.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you satisfy our deepest hunger. You are the bread from heaven. Your real presence in the Eucharist is something we need to believe more with our heart. Help us to grow in faith in your Real Presence in the Eucharist and in the Perpetual Adoration. Increase our faith in you and in your Eucharistic presence now and forever. Amen.
