Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 19:45-48

Then Jesus entered the Temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'” And every day he was teaching in the Temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN today’s Gospel passage we find Jesus Christ enters the Temple area and proceeds to drive out those who are selling things, saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'” The most reason is that Jesus is indignant due to the fact that the temple merchants are dishonest, corrupt and unjust.

Jesus Christ warns them that the Temple should be a house of prayer. Here, he is on fire with zeal for the house of his Father and determines that it be respected as a house of prayer.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while adoring Jesus Christ we learn to be on fire with zeal for the house of his Father as a house of prayer. There Our Lord Jesus Christ is present in the Sacrament of the Eucharist as a prisoner of love waiting to enter into dialogue with us. We are never closer to heaven than when we are adoring him before Our Eucharistic Lord.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, silence, worship and prayer are elements that must be an essential part of our lives. But we can easily forget this truth. So we beg your forgiveness. Help us to be a zealous witness of your love and to show you greater reverence in the Blessed Sacrament now and forever. Amen.
