Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 2:41-51

Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom. After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the Temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

YESTERDAY we celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Today is memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There is an loving interconneted between Jesus’ Sacred Heart and his Mother’s heart.

Mother Mary has a contemplative heart. She knows that she has a part to play in Jesus’ mission and that she always prepares herself for it through prayer.

God the Father has called her to be the mother of his Son who became man in Jesus. We can understand that Jesus Christ her Son has learned to love from her loving example as well.

For Mary the road of her calling is not always clear. There are so many trials and difficulties. Nevertheless, she is resolved to follow her Son faithfully.

So we believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son in  the Holy Spirit sanctified Mother Mary’s heart. God the Father himself has granted her the sacred heart through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Holy Spirit we worship Jesus Christ who has sanctified his Mother’s heart. There also we learn from Mother Mary, a woman of prayer and contemplation, who has stored all things up in her heart and reflected on them.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, when you had already given us everything esoecially your Body and Blood in the Eucharist from the cross you gave us the gift of your Mother. Thank you for this great gift. Grant us the grace to accompany both you and your mother at the foot of the cross that we closely and perfectly follow you as Mary did forever and ever. Amen.
